So... Delta... I'm not entirely sure how to feel about these changes so far...
Scrambler pistol was nerfed... again... Standard and assaults took a massive damage reduction, going from 88 to 59.44 and 68.36 at proto level, respectively. They now feel more like an Ion Pistol with longer range. Both standard and assault manage to hold up nicely with the ROF increase. Whereas the Assault used to be the go to choice between the two main variants, the Viziam has quite a bit more ammo now and only 48 less ROF 9 damage extra. All in all, these pistols still feel nice, but they don't really feel the same without the high damage and I don't believe the ROF increase balances out the damage reductions.
The Breach ScP on the other hand... Ohohoho. Now that's what I'm calling a buff. While the ROF wasn't touched as far as I'm aware, remaining at a slow 150, the damage was given a hefty 50 point increase. With a 457% headshot multiplier, that's a potential 863.73 damage, not counting multipliers. It's absolutely beautiful now, though I expect calls of OP to ring out fairly quickly with this thing taking out proto suits in single shots.
The Burst ScP... I really didn't think it was possible for this gun to get any worse, but somehow... *Gives a round of applause* Congrats, CCP, you made it even worse. 11 damage traded for around a 100 ROF increase sounds okay, but not only was the damage cut, the number of rounds in both your clip and ammo count have been reduced severely, leaving what was already a mediocre gun just a bit deeper in the hole. Poor accuracy and damage along with low magazine capacity (for the ROF) and total ammo count means you'll be reloading and refilling ammo quite often while only occasionally snagging a kill on the unsuspecting militia suit. At least we have something to take the Flaylock and Ion Pistol's place as worst sidearm though, right?
The Ion Pistol is quite lovely. An increased range, magazine size, and reduced heat buildup as well as reduced hipfire spread make it a treat of a pistol. It's still not the best, the range remains lower than other pistols and the damage isn't all that hot, but it's no longer a joke, so you can toss those Yo-yo quips away now.
The Bolt Pistol... Definitely one of my new favorites. This gun used to be decent, holding what I believe was about 150-160 per shot, which is now at a hefty 229 damage at basic and 251 at proto. A nice little bonus headshot multiplier of 225% was added as well, while the magazine capacity was reduced from 6 to 4. Easily able to one shot militia suits from 60+ meters, this is definitely a sidearm worth trying out if you haven't already, though I suspect that, as with the Breach, people will likely start calling this gun OP rather quickly.
The Flaylock no longer sucks! Woo hoo! Minmatar forever! Increases in damage, both direct and splash for the standard variants means this gun is actually usable. You won't win any 1v1 fights with it, but it's back to doing a relatively good job at killing suits, even with the meager 4 round magazine. Still not the best gun around, the bolt and breach ScP are clear choices over this pocket rocket, but hey... you can finally kill militia suits again with a single magazine! Speaking of Breach weapons though, the Breach Flaylock got a hefty damage buff as well. At 325, it's now the hardest hitting of the new pistols, short of headshots on the breach ScP of course, though with a low RoF and a magazine of only two shots, that high damage is balanced out nicely. Skillshotters rejoice, this is your new best friend.
All in all, for the sidearm portion at least, not too bad. I'm going to miss the damage on my ScP, and while I don't believe the nerfs they gave it (Again) were justified, the weapon still holds up alright, as do most of the other pistols. I can't wait to try out the rest of the weapons modified in Delta and just wanted to thank Ratatti and his team for all the work they're putting into these hotfixes.
With that being said, I have some headshot multipliers to test~!
Nova Knives are best sidearm.
